Interiors With A Funky Twist

Client Testimonials

5 star service, 5 star attention to detail, Kelley the designer took time to understand my taste to produce an item that I love to pieces. If you’re thinking of getting either a piece refurbed or spotted one of Kelley’s items for sale… Don’t hesitate, you will be delighted!!!

– Francesca Carlo

I contacted Kelley after seeing her beautiful eclectic dressing tables on Etsy. I saw she was from England so I wasn’t sure if she would be willing to work on a project for me in the United States. She quickly figured out the logistics and let me know shipping estimates so we could get started on our collaborative design. I took pictures of my room and sent her examples of my style. She made the process of putting together a one of a kind dressing table so simple. We emailed back and forth over a couple of months. She sent me wallpaper and paint colors she thought would look good. I would narrow it down and then defer to her for the final decision since she is clearly an artist. Ultimately the final product was beyond my expectations and looked absolutely perfect in my space. My kids are now using my vanity all the time to do their own makeup. It’s only a matter of time before I’ll be emailing Kelley to design two more dressing tables.

ABOUT US

Funky Vintage Designs, UK

Funky Vintage embraces a love for Mid Century furniture and bold design. I turn plain furniture into pieces of functional art, personal to the home they live in.

Why Mid Century Furniture? The clean, sculptural lines and clever craftmanship typical of these pieces make them perfect canvas’ for striking, bold designs.

Furniture usually serves the primary purpose of storage, however by adding a striking design through shapes and colour, the pieces themselves become objects of art, reflecting the personality of the people using them.

The pieces I tend to buy and work on for my clients have been crafted by renowned quality makers such as GPlan, Nathan, Austinsuite and Harris Lebus to name a few.

Sourcing furniture for my clients is very satisfying as I have a genuine passion for furniture crafted during this era. You could say I know my furniture ‘inside and out’ as I literally strip back the pieces in order to achieve the necessary base for a high end finish. Even the screws are taken away, cleaned and refreshed (or replaced).

After I’ve studied each piece of furniture, I then draw out design concepts which I feel would work well considering factors such as scale, function and features.

To achieve the final design, I frequently use tape art, stencils or decoupage.

“Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated.” Quote by Paul Rand.

Most customers who contact me are looking for a statement piece, usually incorporating a bold design on a Mid Century or Art Deco inspired piece of furniture.

If you would like to work with me, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I usually have a good selection of beautiful pieces in stock and ready for upcycle.
